Default Has anyone changed FS and when was the right time

    Hi everyone,
just wondering if anyone has and advice on when the right time to change FS is? We are on our forth cycle, 1st was cancelled,2nd five eggs all bfn, 3rd 2 eggs bfn, 4th in danger of being cancelled, I am just losing hope with our FS and even though he is really nice we still do not have our BFP! Going crazy and feel like this is taking its toll on me! The only saving grace is that my dh and I are stronger than ever. He is truly amazing!

    Hi Emmylou,
I changed after my second stim cycle. I was having early bleeds every transfer and my FS who was friendly wouldn't change anything or investigate further. I felt funny saying I wanted to change but she was fine with it. I think it happens all the time and they don't take it personally. At my second clinic they found that I don't produce progesterone sufficiently so all my previous transfers were never going to work grrr. Had I not changed I could have been doing transfer after transfer with no hope of a BFP.
I think if you are feeling frustrated and that you are getting nowhere then it is time to change.

I changed after our 4th bfn. I asked will they do more testing, why isn't it working I'm 20 years old this isn't right. They told me its a numbers game so bye bye I went.

Looking back now they're idiots. 33 eggs, 27 embryos they froze most at day 3 and froze slow ones. Why not grow that many to day 5. Fet's transfer was a day 5 morula. Wtf. I had day 5 blastocysts why not use one

    Hi Emmylou

We changed FS when we were TTC #2 and we had had about 8 cycles. I was suffering badly with OHSS after each cycle and my FS (who was lovely by the way) just kept increasing my dose of puregon, despite how sick I was getting and the fact it wasn't producing anymore eggs than the lower doses. I asked the nurse what was likely to happen and when she told me "he'll just keep doing what he's been doing" I knew I had to get a second opinion. I had also suspected all sorts of other issues might be at play and wanted him to investigate, but he refused. When I asked for a 2nd opinion suddenly he wanted to do these further tests. Nope enough was enough. He had stopped being proactive and was just reactive. It was definitely time to change.

Even if you just get a 2nd opinion, it can't hurt. I also talked to a counsellor at the clinic which helped me make up my mind.

    Good luck!

    Sonja

We finally changed after doing 7 stims with our original fs. I wish we had changed earlier, cos this will be our last cycle as I can't cope with any more and wish we had changed earlier to our current fs so that he had a better chance to get us over the line. The old fs was always hesitant to change things and then would only do so after I had pushed and pushed and pushed. It just got all too hard with him.

I changed 5 times! If your already thinking about it then you need to! We got our BFP on cycle 15 after finally finding a fs that listened! Gl

No Mrs P it was really strange. I would be in agony after each collection but my FS refused to believe I had OHSS as I only got between 11 and 13 eggs. My new FS said you can get OHSS without producing 50 eggs. I was so angry at my former FS as I felt many great embryos were basically thrown away.
