I would call the police- or ask the staff to call the police- if she attempted to leave I'd get her rego number.
Strange that she is talking about bullies when she herself is obviously one!
Peopl like her need to be taught to keep their hands to themselves and its not ok to hurt a child- she could have simply said thats ok go to your mummy now.

I'd loose my sh!t at her. Extremely loudly. With prejudice. I wouldn't get violent however, I don't think there's need for that.

But what I WOULD do is SCREAM at her "HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY CHILD! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!". I would draw every bit of attention to her and her actions. I would be very vocal and not let her get a word in.
That would draw employees and hopefully the manager to the scene where I could explain to them what had happened, hopefully before she made an escape.

A manager of the store would surely at that point call the police and provide witness for what happened next.
I wouldn't do that with calculated thought though, most of it would be sheer reaction. I don't see the need for decking her but I can guarantee that I'd feel like it.

No matter how much I wanted to smack her back, at that exact moment all I could do was utter a "He's only 2! It was an accident!" and put DS's shoes on and get out of there. I was just that stunned!
Another reason why I wanted to get out of there is because I was worried the other parents in that play area, would think my son was a terrible naughty boy too

I rang McDonalds and they said they can't show any security footage without an official request from the police.
So I'll be going to the police tomorrow after playgroup. I don't know how I can find out what her name is or any other details. Even with a video, she was a complete stranger to me.
I don't think the police will put up a poster asking "Do you know this woman?"
Yet for me it is just knowing I have done whatever I could do rectify this situation for me and DS.

Please let us know what the police have to say. I told my husband your story today and he was so angry, he said he'd kill anyone dares to lay a hand on our son!

You never know, she could be a regular there. Maybe the staff knows her or can keep an eye out. Like you said, at least you've done something

I would have gone off my tree and just yelled and made a HUGE scene so that EVERYONE around knew exactly what happened. Firstly, she smacked your child and second she's accusing you of lying about his age and thirdly she's swearing her head off.

I would've made a massive scene and taken all my self control not to punch her in the face.

My DH on the other hand wouldn't have had a second thought and probably would've socked her one.

It's good you're going to the police - if I've read correctly - sounds like she is on a massive high horse and has no regard for anyone elses child and she assaulted your son.

I can imagine that I would have smacked her in the face, but realistically I'd probably just shout "wtf do you think you're doing?!" or something like that. I don't know, really. The thought enrages me, though.

Fingers crossed they captured the whole thing.... Including her leaving and number plate... If she paid by card they maybe able to trace her that way? I know somebosy posted that police may have better things to do but i dont think so... I think protecting children from trolls is very important!

I hope the police do something, the police in my case did nothing. So I hope they DO as lack of action makes this woman think she can get away with it.
