    Default Elevit vs. blackmores?

    Hi ladies,

Got my BFP the other day and had my bloods done yesterday.
I used blackmores in my last pregnancy and have started using them again this time.

My doctor told me to stop taking blackmores and take elevit with iodine instead, purely because it's 1 tablet a day instead of 2 with blackmores.

To me, this is really not a good enough reason to change.
Can anyone tell me if elevit with iodine is actually better than blackmores pregnancy gold?

My doctor didn't even recommend Elevit when I found out I was pregnant. She recommended Blackmores and Swiss Pregnancy Plus (which is what I took). The Swiss one is only one tablet a day too. If the only reason the dr said to change is because one brand is one tablet a day and one brand is 2, then I don't see the point changing.

Both my doctor and my BIL (works in a chemist) recommended elevit...but I only started taking that specifically because my BIL bought me some. I cut it in half, and take it twice a day anyway.

That doesn't seem like any reason to change if you're happy with what you're using.

I used Blackmores because I found Elevit made me constipated due to the amount of iron in it. I know I'm not the only one who has had that issue!

TBH I don't see why Elevit is so popular... It is very expensive!

    Thanks ladies!
I think blackmores has a pretty good rep, and my DD is perfectly healthy!

So I think I'll just stick with what I know!

I was talking to a pharmacist about this the other day. I use blackmores and he suggested I might like to swap to elevit just for a little while as it can be better for relieving symptoms like fatigue amd nausea, but long term he recommends blackmores.

I've always been told the opposite- the higher level of iron actually contributes to nausea not helps it.

Elevit is supposed to be alot better than black mores. I'd try that first and only 1 tablet is soo much better. But now 6months in I've switched to blackmores only due to the less iron to help me keep regular. If anything I think blackmores have been causing upsets in my stomach so I might go back.
