It's a legitimate mistake to make. Both the news media and the politicians continually perpetuate false beliefs about refugees.

So, people want a country where nobody relies on the government for money, and everyone works and is white. Single parents, low income earners, people who want to stay home for more than 2 years, anyone who is not white with an Aussie accent are simply not welcome here

Considering the mentality of the way of life towards females in their countries I would be questioning what these people are capable of tbh. Would you leave your female daughter at home with an afghan male? I certainly wouldn't.

These people are ILLEGAL and do not have the right to live outside of detention centers, they should be living inside them!

While we have Australians living on or below the poverty line , homelessness, people waiting years for basic surgeries and procedures we should not be spending $$ on this sort of stuff!

I think OP has previously said these refugees need to 'fit in' and embrace Aussie culture, I find that expectation horrid, but wouldn't putting them in a home with a BBQ, beers, the sports channel and some genuine 'Strayans' do this? Surely you see the merit from your POV.

Seriously, the problem with boat people is the ignorance of some people in this country. The ignorance of people who lump all people of an ethnicity in the same 'boat' and the ignorance that all of these people are illegal, it is factually incorrect to refer to refugees or asylum seekers as illegal immigrants. They have a right under law to enter Aus to seek asylum, are not breaking any laws and are not illegal. I think it is an idea with merit and think it is one of the few cases when community minded and giving people will actually be rewarded.

When you support those who are already in the country regardless of race its automatically called being racist

Its also called looking after your own backyard.
