Default What would you pay a baby sitter?

A friends daughter (15) is baby sitting for us tonight while we go on a 'date' (our first since DS was born)

DS is one. We will put him to bed before we leave. He never wakes up so she is basically just keeping an ear out for him just incase.

What do you think is a fair hourly rate to offer to pay? I have no idea!

I had a fully qualified child care worker of 26 with first aid training, working with children checks etc etc etc looking after two kids and she charged me $15 per hour.

A qualified person I'd pay 18-25p/h depending on their asking price. A 15yr old I dont know. Depending on how long you are out for I'd get her $20 for 2hrs longer then that I'd give her a bit more.

Oh wow, I used to receive $25 an hour from one family and $50 per hour from the other family when I babysat 12 years ago!

I guess it depends on how long she will be there. I would've been pretty annoyed if I babysat for two hours and received $30 for example. It's not really worth giving up your Friday night for that amount iykwim.

    I think $20 onwards IMO.

    I get $20/hr. When I was $15 I would've been happy with $15-$18/hr.

there is no way I would pay a babysitter $50 an hour lol

it is a teenager and the child will be in bed so $30 for sitting and watching tv for two hours seems fine to me
