Default Do you allow your kds an occasional Maccas?

Today was a crazy day and when i went to pick DD (21 mo) from FDC i realised i have no easy food in the house for dinner and nthing defrosted.

DH is away in Singapore all week and we are running low on supplies, too much hassle to take a 7 mo DS and 21 mo DD to Coles - so i thought mmmm McDonalds maybe. DD has never had it before and amazingly got very excited when we pulled into the drive thru....1 cheeseburger happy meal (no drink) later im feeling embarassed i gave her a Happy Meal but wonder do people give in and give a Maccas every now and again?

Incidentally she is only eating vehemite cheese and ham sambos lately so i was double surprised she devoured the Happy Meal!

NO NEGATIVE judgement please, I know Maccas is bad!

Have you or do you ever allow McDonalds?

    We do.
DS is 15 months and we get maccas maybe once a fortnight or if we are going to Melbourne for the day or something he'll have it (as will dd1 and dd2.
It's not everyday so I wouldn't stress too much. We treat it as a treat and a definate "sometimes food" only.

Why feel embarrassed? As noemi said, all food is fine in moderation.

It's not like you fed your DD maccas for breakfast, lunch and dinner lol.

I'm curious as to why you didn't give her a drink though? You can get milk, juice or water as an alternative to fizzy drink these days and it's included in the price :-) I used to get my DS water in a normal maccas cup as a treat - he thought he was getting something special, poor thing lol.

    Sometimes.

I've never given her a cheeseburger though, only the chicken nuggets. But she has never eaten the nuggets, only the chips!

Yep I certainly do. Probably once a fortnight... I never had it as a child and made up for it when I could. In moderation it's fine. Especially if they've had decent stuff the rest of the day.
I'll normally get a chicken snap wrap each for the boys with a medium meal for me. I then get two lil chip packets and give the boys a couple of chips rather than whole small... I also get the little bottles of water or occasionally a juice.

Yeah we have macca's about once a fortnight.

My 24mth ds gets a 3 nugget happy meal with water as the drink. He loves the sweet and sour sauce for dipping lol. He loves having 'burger chippie nugget'

    Everything in moderation I think.

Somedays you need to pick your battles! I would have (and have) done exactly the same. My DS ate KFC three days straight once when he was sick.. He needed food and it was all I could get him to eat... Better than starving! It's just food, as long as it's not all the time it's not a big deal!
