I'm in Toowoomba, and recently saw Dr Chamanthi Nanayakkara at St Vincent's when I had my baby. She was fantastic - easy to talk to and happy to answer any questions that I had. She is new to Toowoomba and apparently practices a few days at St Vincent's and a few days through Toowoomba Base. The contact number I have for her is 46 885 621.
I'm not sure on her experience in dealing with behavioural concerns, but hopefully she may be able to help. Good luck

I am DESPERATE to find a good paediatrician near Toowoomba, Ipswich and even in Brisbane. My daughter is 9 and suffers very bad anxiety. She has also been diagnosed with ADHD by a psychiatrist (who has retired, but I didn't like anyway). Along with that she suffers bad OCD, challenging behaviour and is easily exciatble or distressed.
She cannot regualte her own behaviour EVER. I am bringing her up completely on my own with no support as I have no family here. Her past teachers have also been concerned and believe she shows autistic/aspergers tendencies, not severe but enough to need help with. Her psychologist also believes this to be the case but she is unable to make a formal diagnosis.
So now I am seeking a good paediatrician who is not very expensive, who will LISTEN to me, not judge, not put it down to bad parenting and will actually help me. Does anyone know of a good one out there please, (who possibly specialises in child behaviour and development), I am desperate?!!

    Thanks :-)

Hi I'm a teacher, and have been a special education teacher. In toowoomba the best is Dr Painter. There is a fairly long wait list, but he is brilliant and well worth waiting for!! He even takes the time to communicate strategies and suggestions to schools to ensure that EVERYTHING is done to support the child and family. Definately not one of these doctors that hands out medications without really getting to know the child!

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions, much appreciated.
I ended up taking my daughter to a child psychiatrist on the Gold Coast (thanks to a lovely Mum on this forum recommending her hubby!). He got me in practically straight away! He was fantastic and I really liked the fact that he saw myself and my daughter individually, I haven't encountered that before but I think that was very beneficial. His name is Dr Glen Craig at Kingfisher Rooms in Bundall and I would definitely recommend him. He actually listened to me and asked me questions instead of putting words into my or my daughters mouth as I had previously experienced. I finally feel like I have direction on where to go in regards to what is happening with my girl!

Hope the link works, his name is Dr Stephen Withers. Our son has seen him in the past and he is terrific. Not behavioural referral for us but another issue, but ue doesnt give up easily on kids
    I second this.

He is fantastic & absolutely won't make you feel like a failure as a parent like some other doctors do.
