    Default 1940's style formal dress

Wasn't sure where to put this but i'm on the look out for a 40's style formal dress (for a 40's themed formal event) but i'm not really very knowledge in fashion and have no idea. I've googled but i'm still a bit lost.
I don't want to spend a fortune at all.

    HELP

That's the war period, so plainer styles with simple materials.

    Think Gangster! (the traditional type)
