Default Any PND Groups that meet in Melbourne

    Hi

I am suffering from PND and anxiety. The thoughts just keep churning in my head and I need to talk and get it out. BH is a great place to make contact with similar people here but I would love to meet other mums who are going through the same face to face.

    Can anyone help me???

Is there any mothers groups or PND support groups in Melbourne or around the Doncaster area that you can go to and talk with others and even bring the bubs along?

Please, Please let me know if there is anything. I'm getting pretty desparate here. I know you can call PANDA at any time but I think I need that contact with other.

    Cheers

    Hi!

I was wondering if you had private health as there is something I can suggest if you do.
Alternatively, speak to your child health nurse as they might know about one. Alternatively, is Heidelberg ok, if so speak to the nurse about a referral to Piri, they run 12 week groups for mums and bubs. I have not been but it is meant to be good.
If you want to know anything else then feel free to pm me
    Take care

Thanks. I will look into it. Didn't know it existed. I have spent so much time on the internet looking for places to go to.

    Hi 3TPND

I am sorry you are suffering hun. I had severe PND right from the beginning when my girl was born. I sought help like you. I joined a fabulous PND mothers group run by the Banyule Council which resides close to Northland Shopping Centre off Murray Rd. I am still in contact with 3 of the mums from there. The lady who runs it is named Sharleen. If you would like her number let me know. Otherwise if you would like to talk I'd be happy to Hsve a chat or meet. Xo

    Hi Nazgul

I read your other post about being new to PND. Im sorry for all the hurt you have gone through but I glad you have acklowelged that you want to seek help and advice for PND. I too am going through it for the 3rd time and each time I'm still trying to find answers for the depression and especially the anxiety that I am going through. It's a hard and long journey but remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel. As long as you seek for the help you need you will be amazed how much people will be there for you to help and support. There are amazing people on BH that will also be here for you. Anything you need.

I will PM you the details for Sharleen and some other advice.

Hi 3TimesPND and all you other ladies; it is great to see that you are trying to assist each other IRL!

As I wrote in one of my other replies to you 3TimesPND, PANDA actually has a large Victorian (and Australiawide) database, so if you call them and let them know where you are located, or how far you are willing to travel- they might be able to come up with a variety of support groups/supported mothers groups in your area!

Please let us know how you go; it is great to see someone who is brave enough to meet up with people and talk about their PND in real life.

    Hi MM

Thanks for you message. I have called Panda and they have suggested I call PIRI, which I have and I'll be starting the group therapy in June. I'm also see my Psyshologist and Psychiatrist and have started going to a mothers wellbeing group in Heidelberg. I will call Panda again to talk to them to see what other options there are around my area. I know it might sound like I'm doing a lot but I feel this time round I like to be involved in a group. I would love to join a playgroup specific to PND but there doesn't seem to be any close to me.

I think it's great to help each other out on BH and if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to share. I hope this is ok. I can only imagine that there are mums here on BH who are too scared to talk but if we can put a list up of group services that we can go to on a weekly basis, it just might help someone out there.

The one thing that hurt me today too was what my DH said. I asked him if he was ok with me and what I am going through. As in do you understand what I'm feeling and are you supportive of what I have to deal with. He said he understands what I have but can't understand why I'm having anxiety issues. He was upset with me today because we were meant to go out as a family today. And because my anxiety was really high today, I didn't want to spoil it for them if I did not cope while we were out. He said he doesn't know what to say to me. Even though when I had DS 2 and I was in hospital he did speak to my Dr's and had a better understanding of the situation. So why doesn't he accept what I'm going through now? I'm not sure how to help him understand and not be upset with me.
