Anesthetist Appointment

Hello All!
First time mum here, I had my normal antenatal appointment last Monday and I was told to book and see an anesthetist. I have the appointment this friday.

I just wanted to know what happens in an anesthetist appointment? I haven't been able to find any information regarding what happens in an anesthetist appointment.

Can anyone shed some light into this please?

Hi, they will talk to you about the drugs you may want during your labour, & epidurals, and give you a chance to ask any question you may have!

Are you having a c/s or natural birth? If it's a c/s they will go thru how the spinal is administered, what to expect, discuss if you have any reactions/allergies to the anesthetic.If it's vaginal they may discuss an epidural. I've never heard of a anesthetist appointment being booked on the mother's behalf with a vb though.

i am planning for vaginal birth .. yes i thought it was weird being booked into for it. Kinda why I wanted to ask what happens, as I was not sure because I thought you only get booked in for it if you were having a c-section.
