    Default centrelink debts

    if I am having an advance payment being paid off like 40 a fortnight ad I go overseas for a year does the debt just wait til I'm back to continue paying or ??

    Your best bet would be to contact them. My dh cousin got his passport cancelled due to owing the taxation department money so you are best to get that stuff sorted before you go.

    You might have to pay it out like any other "bill" if you stop receiving payments

    Call them and ask. I doubt they would put a debt in hold for a year, though.

    I'd definitly call them, If your going to be working over seas they will probably give you a BPAY number and reference number to continue to pay it off.

    I took an advance and lost eligibilty for centrelink before it was paid off.
    They just sent me a bill. I ignored it. I figured they would take it out of my ftb supps/tax return which they did.
