Default Are Nut Milks unsafe for people with nut allergies?

Just been noticing on the Telly that nut milks are being advertised as an better alternative to cows milk but I was wondering if people with nut allergies need to avoid it?

DS is allergic to tree nuts and wouldn't give him any nut milks. I wouldn't give him anything that contain his allergens, even in tiny amounts let alone a drink made entirely from them.

    Thank you ladies!

I just wasn't sure as I was thinking that maybe whatever it is that made nuts allergic may have been removed in the milk making process.

Good to know its not okay!

Almond milk is made by soaking almonds overnight, then blending them, then straining the resultant liquid through some cheesecloth - so it's essentially the whole nut, minus some of the fibre.

I would assume other nut milks are made in much the same way, so anyone with an allergy to that nut would definitely have to avoid it, yes.

There are other 'milks' that are available (soy, oat, rice) that would be be okay in most circumstances (sometimes things are manufactured in plants that also manufacture nuts - so cross contamination can be an issue, depending on how severe the allergy is).
