    Default Avocado reaction???

DD is 5 months, & we have been slowly introducing solids over the past couple of weeks.

Each time she has had avocado, she has come out in a rash over the lower half of her face, lasting several hours.

I would have thought avo fairly low risk with regards to intolerances/reactions. We have no family history of allergies.

Has anyone else had this happen??

    Thanks

    Not personally here.
But I was just googling this and apparently if bubs has a sensitivity to bananas, kiwi fruit and latex, then more than likely they will have an allergy to avocado!

Interesting .... I thought she reacted (slightly) to banana this morning too. Guess we better go nice and slowly then.

It has something to do with the proteins found in them that is similar to the protein in latex, hence the similar allergic reaction to both food and latex.

Does bubs use a dummy? Cause there is latex in dummies that also might be triggering the rash etc.

Thanks waterlily and smootch, good to know. DD has no other signs of a reaction so far (doesn't seem any more unsettled, or any tummy troubles), just a very red face! Will have to keep a close eye on things, I guess.

Bambino - that makes sense. Nope, no dummy. Such a shame, as avo and banana are such easy "on-the-go" foods.
