    Talking Happy/confused first timer!

    Hi Everyone!

Just thought I'd introduce myself...and cos I'm so happy!

My hubby & I are travelling Australia, sorta. We've been away from home (Perth) since January 2010, went north, spent 6 months in Exmouth, 9 months in Port Hedland and now been working in Darwin since August last year and we have decided it's time to go home for good, June this year!

My hubby & I went out to dinner Tuesday night, the next day being ANZAC day & no work, thought we'd do something different. Now I've been clucky for near on 2 years and whilst he's wanted kids, he never wanted them yet sort of thing. So at dinner he asks if I want to work when I get home...what sort of question is that, of course I do! So what he was getting at is if I were to fall pregnant straight away, would it be a bad thing?! The biggest smile just came across my face...he's ready!

We had decided it was time to go home as it's my 30th in August then a week later, my little sister is getting married. I've just finished a 12 week body transformation & lost 10kg! I had always envisaged arriving home, wearing a hot 1920's dress (theme birthday) & then wearing an awesome maid of honour dress at my sister's wedding to show off my new body. Now I don't know what to do. I've been on the pill for nearing 11 years but then some people have fallen pregnant in a matter of months after coming off it.

It's not the end of the world if I can't drink at my 30th or at my sister's wedding. I've pretty much gone without alcohol this whole 12 weeks (it's amazing how much weight you drop just from not drinking!), so im not worried about that...i guess there is a little bit of vanity about the whole body thing. But then IF i do fall straight away, id only be 2-4 months and hopefully wouldnt show too much...?

Fantastic new!!! First thing to do is start taking pre-conception tablets so you can be sure you are getting enough of the right vitamins. Your partner may want to consider taking some too.
Its easier said than done but try not to become obssesed about it, though it is perfectly normal and most women do become a little obssesed. You may or may not fall pregnant straight away and if you dont it can be very frustrating. People will tell you to relax and it will happen. Which ended up being true for me.
Speak to your mum and other female family members to find our whether they have any medical history you should be aware of. I found out my mum had fobroids and an aunt had endomitriosis.
Its also important to start keeping track of your periods, I used the period tracker app on my iphone. If things dont go to plan then this information may be useful for specialist. Try to record every thing including spotting and sore boobs, those things will be useful to check whether what your feeling is normal before your period or whether there is something different that could indicate your pregnant. You may want to chart your temperature too as a way of predicting your most fertile time.
Dont be suprised if your partner freaks out a little when it comes down to doing the deed, that can be normal too. Remember this is the part they are responsible for. Talk to them and try to get them involved. I found it helped once my partner understood the process better. Remember us girls tend to read a lot once we are ready and not all men do.
Agree between yourselves how long you are willing to try before seeking help. Its better that you know this now rather than questioning it each month.
With regards to your 30th and the wedding. If your not pregnant you'll be wishing you were so dont worry about them and if you are pregnant you'll be too happy to care.
I wish you lots of luck.

    Hi Millie82

My husband and I decided Thursday that we are ready to try too!

Exciting but scary times ahead. I'm so excited wish there was already a little bun growing!

I look forward to following your journey!

Congrats on your body transformation and on the decision to start trying for a bub, it's so exciting.

After ds was born I lost a lot of weight and got my good body back after some hard work. Now this year I am a bridesmaid to my best friend and I have a few important birthdays and events all of which I will be pregnant for.

It's hard to make the decision to give your body up when you have worked so hard to look good but it's so so worth it. I wouldn't wait it might not happen straight away but when that second little line turns up the body stuff won't matter, you will be so happy. If your in good shape now it might not take a lot to get back to your pre pregnancy weight. Go for it!

    Good luck

Hi Millie82, I agree with Chicky Choo about a phone app, I've moved over the "fertility friend" and it is much more thorough than my days". I have never been so on touch with my body (sounds so cheesy but it's true) as I have when I started my TTC journey in Feb. Ive used ovulation tests a couple of times just to know what is going on but no real structured plan besides relying on my handy app. Each month gets easier if your not in the lucky 30% (I've read) that conceive in the first 3 months. Im now trying to enjoy this part of the journey and trying to understand the technicalities involved (not even close to what they preached in sex ed; fear is a beautiful thing! Haha). Fingers crossed for you
