Default My nearly 5 year old just doesn't want to listen

I'm so over my boy lately he just doesn't listen answers back etc. it's doing my head in he just doesn't take no for answer. How do I deal with it time out doesn't seem to work and taking things away doesn't work. It's constant. When he is at school he is fine and listens to his teachers. One minute he is chucking a wobbly the next he is fine his mood can change. He does well at school, but at home he can get very whiny and it's like he has taken a step backwards even with getting dressed. Could this be school related or little brother related his brother is 1 year old now. I give him kisses and cuddles and my time but just doesn't seem to be enough. Any tip or ideas would be great.

it could be his first imflux of testorone?

My boy went out of sorts for about a month shortly after turning 5...not listening, answering back, generally just really silly.

try and bare with it...if he is acting diff from normal, it could very well be hormonal or starting school and it will pass.

Lots of mums at school went through the same things at 5 and then again at 7...as diff hormones release, it can really effect their behaviour.

If nothing else has changed, give him some firm boundaries and he will bounce back

My 4yo is the same. Not listening. Answering back. Being silly. Time out/removing toys leads to tantrums but doesn't change his behaviour. Maybe its normal? I wonder if it's diet related. I've seem posts on her about eliminating sugar and preservatives but I've not tried it.
