Default Miscarriage and pregnancy tests (HCG)

    Hi,

This is my first time on one of these threads. I am 26 married with 2 children. I recently had an ectopic pregnancy in Feb resulting in my left tube being removed, fell pregnant straight after and that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage.

My miscarriage was 3 and a half weeks ago and my last HCG bloods had come back only 19 at the day I started my miscarriage.

    MY QUESTION:

So I have just taken a pregnancy test this morning and I jumped in the shower and when I got out I had a look and it was a very visible but faint line, I am just wondering if this could be because of the left over HCG in my system although wouldnt you think if it was only 19HCG 3 and a half weeks ago that it wouldnt still be posotive from that or am I pregnant ago....?

    What do you girls think?

    Thanks
    Kate

Hi Kate. So sorry for your loss. I really believe that your levels would be back to zero after three weeks. So I think you're pregnant again. Go and get a blood test to confirm. All the best and let us know how you go.

Hi girls. Had my hcg this morning. It came back at 25. Amazing! I know my lmp (miscarriage) was 31st of march. Though is 25 ok? Just scared of another ectopic or miscarriage?

Hi Kate so sorry for ur loss. One hCG test doesn't really give u an indication of what's happening u really need 2 one 48hours after the first to ensure the levels are doubling. Ur levels definitely should have been back to zero 3 weeks after ur miscarriage unless u have some retained tissue. Definitely don't want to scare u and I really hope ur UTD again! That would be so wonderful for u.
I unfortunately went through a natural miscarriage Jan 10 but sadly didn't pass all pregnancy tissue and my hcg started to rise again. I really hope this isn't the case for u but it might be a good idea to ask ur doc for a few quantitative hcg's to ensure those levels are rising nicely
    Fingers crossed for u I hope u r UTD

    Hi girlies.

Thought I would update. Doctor rang with today's hcg and it was 25. I was gutted! THEN they called back. They had made a mistake. Thursdays hcg was 66 and today's was 186!! So my doubling time is 31 hours. Toooooo excited right now. Just don't know when I should have an ultrasound to check the fetus position. I'm 4 weeks tomorrow.

When do you think they would be able to see a sac?

Oh my goodness! I read your posts absolutely certain that it must be left-over from your miscarriage, and honestly quite worried because when my hCG failed to return to zero it was the first indication of my ectopic.

Huge congratulations to you. I've had two successful pregnancies after my ectopic, and both times my ob told me to schedule the ultrasound for 7 weeks so that they could not only check position but heartbeat too. In the meantime, I found frequent hCG tests reassuring.

All my best wishes, what a rough trot you've had. Wishing you a very sticky 36 weeks to come.
