I have black opaque's but wasn't sure about them.

I like the idea of patterned ones.

To throw a spanner in the works, my second little black dress (my back up one) has a silver sparkle glitter through it, obviously you can't wear patterned stockings with that could you ?

Black patterned, depending on what the dress actually looks like.

    Something like these...

http://s8.thisnext.com/img/shop/497610.jpg <--- though these may look really old lady if the dress is really plain and boring and modestly cut

You should post a pic of the dresses and the shoes! (You in them, preferably!).

I like the ones in the last link.
My shoes are exactly that. The dress isn't tight fitting though.

Hi Bambino, I personally think if you are wearing a black dress and black shoes that black stocking would just be a bit to much. I think you should go with the tanned satin finish ones and add a little accesories,

    Perfect!

Black is back especially in cooler weather. I have a party next weekend and doing the black stocking, makes your legs look longer by not chopping your outfit up, important for a shorty like me
