    Default ANZAC Day

I hope everyone has a great day off, but I also hope that everyone remembers why we have it.
(And I hope there aren't too many hangovers tomorrow! *chuckle*)

    Lest we forget.

Wish we were brave enough to attend a service, too hard for me with two babies.

We do have 4 candles burning, one for each of DHs grandfathers (Captain and a Lieutenant) and one for his grandfather's brother who never came home and one for the grandfather's brother who's mind never came home.

    Lest we forget.

I hope everyone who has breakfast at an Anzac day service thanks the cooks, DH gets up every Anzac Day at 12.30am to leave at 1 to cook all might for the gunfire breakfast. He's Army but will never have Anzac Day to march or wear his medals.

I'll be burning 5 candles for my two great great uncles who were in Gallipoli, my great great uncle who served on the western front and my two great grandfathers who server in WWII. I'll also ring my grandfather and my father.

My great grandfather served at gallipoli under the british from what was than British India... My grandfather used to tell us his (great granddads) storied about gallipoli and how he made 2 great aussie mates there who saved him when he got wounded ...when they left gallipoli he wrote to them here in australia but couldnt get in touch with them. Living in australia now i would have loved to know the families of those 2 aaussies ... I always attend our local Anzac service and feel so proud of all that our ancesters have done for all of us

Thank him from us elle! Trust me, gunfires and bikkies make the morning very special and they're EXTREMELY appreciated. Quite often the cooks aren't around when we get in for food. Or if they are, they're still in the kitchens cooking extra.
So we don't get to thank them in person very often.

So THANKS to all the behind the scene people who keep the day (and our stomachs) going strong . As they say, an army marches on it's stomach .

ANZAC day was and will continue to be for me a day of refection and to give thanks to the men and women who have served, to the ones that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. I will be passing this down to my children in hope they will pass it down to theirs. It's not just a holiday in this house and will never be.

    Lest we forget xxoo
