Destroy the spare room, pull all the books off the bookshelf and open all the cd cases.

"Yep, you can eat that in your room..."

I'd rather vaccuum crumbs (cos she'll spill them anywhere she is anyway) in there than listen to her waffle crap while she's supposed to be eating.

I also do a "You know, so-and-so show is on right now... you can go watch it if you like!"

When i go to woolies i take my DS to the toy aisle and let him pick a new engine either thomas the tank engine or chuggington.
When we go out i let him watch thomas the tank engine on my phone to keep him quiet and occupied.
I bribe him with chocolate and twisties

If I desperately need a time out, I make, now hold your breath here....a bowl of double EasyMac {two sachets}.

Then I put on a dvd of Sailor Moon episodes, which I don't normally allow because somehow in 15 years since I saw it last, it has become grating on my nerves.

Then I yell out "Hey, DD, Sailor Moon is on and here's some lovely Orange Pasta {yes, it's actually been dubbed that}, oh, wouldn't you just love to come here and eat it alllll up?"

It wins me at LEAST an hour, because EasyMac is so heavily laden with bans in this house that she eats it one macaroni piece by piece, chewing each bit slowly. she also won't leave until every squealing episode has finished.

Of course, the fallback is she's so wired with excitement that it takes until at least 11pm to fall asleep and she's talking about Sailor whatever for HOURS the next day, but I can leave her knowing that even if a magical unicorn with an icecream for a horn was standing outside the window she would not leave her seat on the couch.

When Mumma needs a nap, I employ Ms Moon, world's best babysitter

DS is one so if I need to shower/ get dressed/ anything, I let him in the ensuite to pull all of the toilet paper off the roll and play with it.
Gets me at least 20 mins of time without a peep!

Playschool dvds. Or looking at photos on the iPad. Or if I'm being really bad mum, I let him play with DH's guitar (as in pretend not to notice as long as he's not being rough).

Lol, I've done this! And then I forgot about it and went to do school pickup and the other mums looked at me like I was mad.
