    Default Can someone reassure me?

I had an appointment with a specialist OB today who did a scan on a portable machine. According to my LMP I'm supposed to be 9+1. I have a retroverted uterus and he told me be could only see a sac and it measured 7w, the same as it did 2 weeks ago again on a portable machine.
He told me I must have my dates wrong but I know I don't and that wouldn't explain why the sac has the same measurements after 2 weeks.
When I was pg with my twin DD's I saw two heart beats at 9 weeks and that was on a portable machine as well.
I'm booked in for a formal dating scan on Thursday which will probably be transvaginal and I'm so scared.

Has anyone had anything similar and it turned out fine?

    Hi ,

Not entirely the same story but my GP did a scan with his portable scanner and could only see placental tissue and nothing else. Rushed away to FS and with the transvaginal scan there was our little one HB beating perfectly. When he started to measure it came back as 7wks when I was supposed to be 9wks. He moved the scanner and bub rolled over and BAM there was the extra two weeks. Bub was just on a dodgy angle which put the dates off. I also have a slightly tilted uterus which would have put the external portable scanner off too.

Best of luck with your pregnancy and I hope you have a healthy bub kicking away at your next scan.

    Sam

    Thanks for your reply!
I hope the same happens with me, I've barely had any symptoms apart from being tired and sore breasts so I'm making myself sick with worry.
So glad I only have to wait two days.

I'm pregnant with my first, 10 weeks. I have a retroverted uterus and my ob said at 9 weeks he couldn't see anything without a transvaginal ultrasound. If you haven't had that and you have this same retroverted uterus thing (still not entirely sure what that is!) then they probably haven't seen anything they can base any proper opinions on. Good luck tomorrow

I am supposed to be 9.5 weeks, and when I had the transvaginal scan it only measured at 6 weeks.!!!! I feel rather upset, as i am positive i can't only be 6 weeks. but we saw a heartbeat. I didn't even think you could even detect a heartbeat at 6 weeks... is that right? anyone know?

My bubs' hb was detected at 5w4d! So it is possible.

    Hi

I replied to a thread the same as this and my girlfriend has the same problem. When you calculate from your last period it is wrong because you don't actually fall pregnant until 2 weeks when you ovulate. Hence the 2 week gap in sizevs dates. Pregnancy use to be a 38 week time though they recently changed it to 40 weeks because it is easier to calculate from lmp because not many women know when they ovulate. So I am sure your fine.

Let us know how you go..

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm having a transvaginal scan done at lunchtime tomorrow, DF has the day off work to come with me. We're both pretty nervous.
I got a positive HPT 6 weeks ago so there's no way I could only be 7 weeks pregnant which is why I'm so confused, just hoping it's the retroverted uterus. I will update tomorrow
