I'll reiterate.. If you as the parent regret the way you spelt it.. Would you change it before they start school?? Even if it's only 6 months before school starts?

Yes. If the father and I were unhappy with the spelling and the child didn't know how to spell it anyway, I would go ahead and change it

She said no, and now as an adult, I love that my name is spelt different. I've met so many Janelle's, but never a Jenelle. I wouldn't change it for anything now.
    My mother is "Janelle"

My name is Rachell (as in the common everyday name Rachel/Rachael.)
All my sisters have double letters in there names so mum and dad decided to spell mine "ell" instead of the "el" or "ael"

I CONSTANTLY get called "Rachelle (Ro-shell)" I use to hate it and then started giving up and never corrected people. But now that I'm older I kinda like it, I don't mind any more if people pronounce it differently, nice to have a change every now and again lol.

But AMEN to the no personalized cups or plates with my spelling on there
    It's a big thing when your 8!

Most defiantly, if my husband and I were not happy with the spelling then we would change it.

6 months before school starts would be fine.
I don't know if I would do it whilst he was at school though.

**Some one correct me if I'm wrong**
But when filling out school forms can you put his "given name" but his "preferred name or known as"
If the changing of spelling is for school purposes?

But if your unhappy with the spelling, the I can't see a huge issue in changing it legally.

    Good luck!

Yes, I would change the spelling at that age, but not the actual name itself.

Now I want to know what your sons name is and how it's spelt!

    No.

Chanel would look even more bogan if I changed it to "Schanelle," or something horrid like that.

Never and personally I don't think your name should ever be changed in any way. It's what you were born with and that's it.
