Default How can I help my friend

A friend confided in me today that she is struggling with her husband who has depression. He has been out of work for a couple of years due to an injury that still hasn't been fixed even after several operations. He doesn't nothing but sit in a chair and is not involved with anything her or their kids do, he doesn't help her with anything. She is at the end of her tether and wants to leave him but is staying for the kids and a fear that he might do something stupid. How can I help her? How can I help him? How can I help her kids? I wish I could fix it all for them like magic but I don't know how, I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps give beyond blue a call? They might have some advice. I'm pretty hopeless at this kind of thing, sorry

Counselling. Tell him how he is making you feel but not as to "blame" him
