Default Re: How do you pay your bills?

We transfer almost all of our wages into a BILLS account on pay day, then when bills come in we pay them out of that account (Bpay). Some (like swimming) are direct debit out if that same account.

Quick tip: to maximise your own money, don't pay bills until they are just about due... You're better off having that $500 (or whatever amount it is) in your savings account earning 5% interest calculated daily for a month, than paying the bill off a month early.

This is what we do as well. Except i canculate what each expense is per fortnight and put that amount away in a bill account so when bills come in the money is sitting there for them to be paid.

Every little expense is budgeted for.

Default How do you pay your bills?

I get text messages when my bills are good to be paid so I don't need to remember :B just pay online. My bills are always the same price so I know how much to leave each week for the monthly payments.

Lol... Yes we've calculated all bills we would pay throughout the year (rent, phone, electricity, mowing, food, clothes, school etc etc) and then divided it by 52....It came to total pretty much our income each week... Was a shock to my husband to find out that we actually only JUST live within our means.

I used to be shi-te with paying bills and always had to try and scrape together the money but now I have a high interest savings account that I use for our bills. I put a set amount in there each week and when a bill comes in I B-Pay it to the closest pay day. For example our PHI was due on this week but before pay day so i paid it on the last payday.

Sometimes I forget to pay a bill but very rarely I don't like setting the bpay to come out because i don't have the money in the main account that bpay takes it from. so i just pay either when i get them or when i remember. The phone and PHI are due roughly the same time every month so i don't really forget.

Oh and because it's in a high interest account and there is a set amount going in each week we usually make at least $5 a month which i don't think is too bad considering we are doing nothing to earn it

Bills such as car and home-insurance , car regos and house rates are also put away weekly into an account so that when the bill comes around I have the money there to pay it .

I really couldn't afford to do it any other way, getting a big bill at once would really set us back !
We do similar and it works for us we always know where we stand then

Default How do you pay your bills?

We work out how much on average they are per quarter, inc rates, insurance etc, put some for insurances in a separate ac, and work out how much they are per month, and we pay some off each week, so when they come in its always a nice surprise, except if its electricity.

I find Internet banking great for paying it, u have a record for all bills and all amounts and dates payments made, so no keeping paperwork.
