Advice on toddler needing grommets

So we've been told by our specialist that my dd needs grommets. I want to get the process over quickly and my dh agrees but a few people on bh have made the suggestion about sending her to a chiro first. Anyone else heard of this? I am just concerned that the chiro might only have a temporary affect, if any. Then we will be stuck in the same boat a few months later...

I had grommets twice as a young kid, narrow/ear canals weren't straight. Apart from swimming they weren't an issue.

My mum didn't realize how bad my hearing was until I jumped and asked what the car engine running noise was..??

It also depends on age and whether it is impacting speech.

My daughter has had 2 sets of grommits, both with no issues.

She had glue ear and delayed speech.
Her hearing is now perfect, and her speech has come on in leaps and bounds.

Mine have had 7 sets between them. When they are in and working everything improved for my kids. Sleep, hearing, and speech. When they fell out as they are designed to do their problems with infections began again, but many only need the one set. If I could go back again I wouldn't hesitate to do things just the way we have.

I'm a big fan of Chiro, but not for grommets. My son has had 3 sets. Like the others they're great.

I believe if the dr told you to get grommets than there is prob a good reason and I can't see how I chiro could help there?! (And I had both kids at the chiro for different reasons)
Both my boys had/have grommets. My older one was already 2 when they got inserted and it was def too late for him. He is 6 and in speech therapy for a while now. My younger one got them at 1. Absolutely love grommets though of course as any mum I suffered horribly when they got inserted, after all it is a surgery. But our lifes changed both times dramatically. And I wish even with ds2 we would have done it earlier, it would have saved him dozen rounds of antibiotics!

My dd is 3 and a half and is on her 2nd set of grommets. She was always sick with ear infections and the difference the first time she had them was amazing - no infections for over a year. As soon as she started to get sick again we knew thy'd fallen out. Second time around we hadn't realized how much her hearing had been affected until after the op. She is still scared of loud noises! Luckily for us he speech and language development was never affected. Unfortunately one of the 2nd lot has now fallen out so we'll see what happens over the next couple of months. As said before we as parents suffer more with the op and seeing our babies go to sleep. I would def do the same again, but hope we don't have to go back a 3rd time as dd knows what it's all about now.

I'm a Chiro and you will be amazed it how effective treatment can be for kids that needed grommets.

Ear, nose throat and neck are closely related to each other. Build up of fluid in ears can be caused by increased jaw tension (due to teething, grinding, braces) or even upper neck tension or even food allergies. Also restrictions in your cranial bones can also limit to how well your ears drain... Even as adults our cranial plates expand with breathing!

Grommets are become way to common for my liking. And we really have to stop and think what is causing it and how it can be treated without perforating the ear drum. Yes I agree in some circumstances it is necessary... But I don't think it will do any damage to do some reading and explore some options.
