Default Both kids need same op.... Same day or different days?

    Hi!

Both of my boys need an operation for undescended testes. The surgeon asked if I want them both on the same day or different days. My immediate thought was different days so that I could give them each attention, but he said lots of mums have both at the same time so that they will share a room in hospital, get it over and done with, no need for babysitters for other child, one lot of parking/packing/stressing etc. If I did that I would get the two grandmothers to come with me and assign one to each child so that they would always have someone with them, and then I would go between the two.

What do you think? In terms of practicality it make sense to do them together, but I worry that I won't be able to emotionally be there for both?

    Hiya,
My dd has had a series of operations (day surgery) on her eyes. It is a huge day both physically and emotionally for all of us. If another child had the same problem I would certainly get them done together. It is such a long day at the hospital and if yiu have two grannies there I would do it. BUT you need to do what feels right. Hope this helps. Good luck with it all.

I'd go both in one day.

After seeing one bub go through that, i would struggle with the anticipation stress for bub two, on top of everything else.

hi, I agree with both nannas there you should be able to manage. I would get the surgery over and done with on the one day, and then you can focus on the recovery stage. I hope everything goes well for you and the boys. marie.

Thanks ladies! I guess I knew it would be better, just struggling feeling guilty about not being there 100% for each child. But your points were right, and I think that's what I will do. Thanks for your reassurance!

I would do both the same day. I had DD2&3 have surgery done on the same day it was so much easier walking in together and walking out together.
