Smile Looking for some advice :)

    Hey everyone

Newbie here! Just a little about myself, I have two kids, 10 & 6, from a previous relationship and have now been with my GF for nearly 2 years. We are currently discussing having a baby and I'm trying to find out all I can about the process for a lesbian couple.

I was wondering if someone can help point us in the right direction or share your experience re: the process, costs, where to start etc.... We live in sunny Queensland

    I'd appreciate any advice really!

    TIA
    L

    Hi finallybeingme,

We are also in a similair situation, I have a 9yo DD from a previous relationship, and have been with DW for 3.5years. We have had chats about how and where and how much, and the information we find is from one extreme to the other, in regards to cost and process and time (I know personal situations vary)
There seem to be some great stories on here, and I browsed the IVF threads.
Would be great to hear some more stories from SS couples and how they decided on the donor process too

We have two kids through artificial insemination. We used a clinic. Cost about $1000 per try (so per month). First time was second try and second time was first try so we were lucky and it didn't cost too much.

We tried at home first with a known donor but there were some health issues and it didn't work. He is still the boys dad even though he didn't end up being the biological dad. He is fantastic and see's the boys most weekends.

I think you said you're in another state so I won't bother telling you about the clinic as you obviously won't use the same one, if you use one at all.

We went to Canberra to birth our eldest (three hour drive) as we could put both mums on the birth certificate. Now nsw is same so didn't need to leave home to have our youngest. As it turns out the law was retrospective so we could have go a birth cert for our eldest with both our names, even if he was born in nsw.

    Happy to answer any questions

    Welcome and good luck!
