FTB is not welfare ..its to give back to the middle class as they pay soooo much tax, they deserve to get some back. Its hard when you are middle class and the poor have better TV's.

    hahahhahaahhahahahahhhahhahahahhahahh
    ahahahahaha

I am sorry but some women on here are just..seriously deluded.
How much do you girls make?
I reckon we pay over the average wage, in tax, a year!
and still it is not enough to buy all the poor a plasma.

In fact I think it would only just cover our own selves.

That's what I like about you, your husband earns a good wage but you are down to earth and understand the complexities of poverty. Never seen you whinge about tax, nor make snide comments to those less fortune. It's a breath of fresh air tbh

Yup! This is the issue for me.

DP has been paying more than the average weekly wage in tax recently... and will no doubt get slogged come tax time too. This kind of money is new to us, but hopefully in years down the track I will still be able to look back and know that without welfare, we probably wouldn't have ended up where we were.

Without welfare, DP wouldn't have been able to give up working in a factory to become an electrical apprentice... I wouldn't have been able to... well... feed my kid or myself... lol.

I have to agree with delirium and berylsmum. Funny how people will happily collect their ftb and baby bonuses, homeowners grants and so on and bag out those on 'welfare'. Um, those with children would actually be receiving more than those on newstart for goodness sake, why don't THEY think about getting off the "welfare cycle".

not only that, they do drive by inspections and send people letters to mow their lawns. I had a single mum friend with no mower, who had to pay $60 about once a month to have it mowed bc they breathed down her neck about it. Yes I think the properties should be maintained to a good standard, just making the point and agreeing they are monitored.

I think people fail to realise just how much of their life is subsidised with tax money. You are not free!

    Education
    university
    Health
    school transport
    prescription and other meds
    emergency services
    armed forces
    Roads and train lines

The list goes on and on. And you all use it.
So why are you attacking welfare? Yours is a tiny little bit of money. You do not own it.
It is paid to keep you in a job and keep our country going.
You are lucky enough to afford a mortgage, something that some people will never do.
