What about those whose partners work away? XDP works 6 days a week, it was rare I'd get a break and while DD is only 5 months old now, I'd put her in childcare for a break if I felt I needed to.

I guess my point is that it's not all black and white and there can't be one generalisation for everyone

Sounds about right. We are currently on 100% ccb and pay $20 per day for the first 2 days (24 hours) and the full $68 for the third day.

6 days must be tough. When your hubby is home (day 7) then the free time should be split 50-50. You should be able to take yourself out for a coffee, movie, read a book or whatever when hubby is home.
    - evenings and 1 day per week to share isn't a lot. But that's part of the parcel of the job choice/of being parents.

Good point. Parents shouldnt have to (unless taxpayers funds are involved in which case I believe some level of justification is fair).

We pay $25 a day (8-4) and get $12 of that back (paid quarterly)
Its $60 something a day, then $35 CCB.

Tax isn't taxpayer's 'funds'. We pay tax to the government and they disperse as they see fit. It isn't 'our' or 'taxpayer's money.

Well regardless of semantics if you do not work outside the home and want to use government funds to put your child in daycare, you should have to provide some justification.

To who? You? Coz the government don't seem to mind that I put my son in day care twice a week
