    Are you in NSW?

All of the current laws are stated on the RTA website.

    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety...nts/index.html

Children up to 4 years of age still need to be in a 5 point harness, forward facing.
The seat can be depending on the childs weight and height.

4 to 7 years of age, then they can be in a booster with a normal seat belt.

I moved my daughter before 4 years of age into a booster seat because she is very tall for her age and she kept on pulling her arms out. She is much safer in this seat with the normal seat belt. She will be 4 next month.

If your child is too big, they can move to the next seat.
