I think a lot of companies are blaming the carbon tax for job cuts.

It was all over the news the other day how the carbon tax is going to make electricity prices go up. That might be the case, but my last summer electricity bill was double the previous summer bill. Can't blame the carbon tax on the 40% increase in bills in recent years.

Carbon tax will affect me by giving me peace of mind that we are addressing climate change. I'm not even interested in calculating the financial cost to me, because its infinitely more important to me that we take action to ensure that this earth is inhabitable and beautiful for future generations.

In my current situation, I will get money back. My parents will loose money, so I'll just give what I get to them.

I agree with the others that this is something that we need to do for the future. Most governments think short term, whatever will get them to the next election. But we need to think long term.

And I agree with BigRedV, any company who is blaming something that has not occurred yet for job losses or price hikes is lying.

Since I don't believe the carbon tax will do one tiny ounce of different to the environment I think it's a load of BS. The government needed a new tax. I would have more respect for them if they where honest and said "look we are up sh!t creek without a paddle and need more money" fair enough.
As for how much money people will lose no one can answer that especially not an online calculator. You will know by Xmas. And I doubt it will be pretty.

Out of interest why do you think that? Do you think there is a better way of doing it (perhaps like another country does) or do you think we shouldn't do it at all?

Do you see climate change as an issue?

Like which other country? All the ones who have dumped the carbon tax or reduced it greatly because it doesn't work. Maybe instead of making the same mistake they did we should learn from them.

More research is what we need. Unbiased research not one that gets funding if they write up what the government wants them too.

Everyone is entitled to their point of view. Mine is what I wrote.

Oh and yes I believe in climate change of course, the climate changes like it has for millions upon millions of years.
And will continue to no matter what we do. Sure we can help by not killing the earth faster, fair enough. But tax, sorry I don't see it.

To form an opinion you have to read for and against then make up your own mind. That is what I have done.

    Ok. Thanks

I was just trying to engage in dialogue but you sound offended in some way, which was not my intention.
