That and lack of options for parents of school kids. Limited after school care positions and very few school hours jobs leads to unemployment not through choice.

Too right! Couldn't have said it better myself. I mean I've totally been living it up as a SAHM all these years. Blowing $50 on groceries a week, haircuts once a year, I even have two pairs of thongs! Ahhh lifestyles of the rich and the famous eh...

It would be so amazingly helpful to all of us 'proper mums' out there, when I say that I mean the ones who look after their children. But realistically it is a stupid idea.

I'm trying to work it out, too. Better go inform all of those dads out there that they're not proper dads.

I think she meant as opposed to mothers who have babies for cash and neglect them. Am I right?

I am going to admit I haven't read all the replies in this thread, but I agree with Barneby Joyce in that SAHM's give up so much to stay a home. Not only do they give up on getting wages, but they give up putting money into their super which affects their retirement. And they give up getting any respect from anyone else on the planet because they don't do anything important like go out and earn money.
