    id put the money towards childcare. that way if people are struggling they can afford childcare/find a place and work again.

    I think the intention of the proposal is great.

    SAHM's should be valued and that value should be reflected in real financial terms, not just lip service.

    The delivery just seems misguided. Surely SAHM's would benefit from an overall and ongoing reduction in the cost of living, or contributions to their super etc rather than a one off lump sum.

    And this is the problem with our welfare and tax system as it is currently set up. There is a massive disinsentive to break out of "the poverty cycle".
