    Default Let's talk science!

Dear lovers of science! Let's talk science!

What is exciting you in the world of science today?

Do you have a favourite scientist?

What do you want to discuss about science??

*Disclaimer* (since everyone loves these so much)

I put this in the general section. Can we please keep religion out of this thread, there are plenty of other threads about science and religion in the religion section of the forum.

Everyone is welcome, even if you don't know anything about science. If you have a question about science, come in and ask, someone may be able to give you an answer!

Woo hoo! What an awesome thread!

Things that are exciting me... nanotechnology, the space elevator (come on, Japan), and I was excited by news from the LHC about neutrinos travelling faster than the speed of light - so excited I even updated my Facebook status about it, and got accused of geekdom by all and sundry - and then crushed to find that it looks like an error. Sigh...

I am a "scientist"- studied Genetics & Microbiology at uni :-) Love that stuff!
I miss the industry & subjects now that I am a SAHM.. (but I wouldn't have it any other way at the moment!)

    Ooh this thread excites me.
I guess I'd be called a scientist too, I'm doing my post-grad in quantum chemistry. Which is awesomely fun, and is all theoretical - so unlike regular chemists I don't have to be around toxic, carcinogenic chemicals all day. Which is definitely a good thing for someone as clumsy as I am!

Something that I find exciting right now... (besides my own research of course ), would be molecular computing. Instead of building computer components to be continually smaller, start from the bottom (molecules) and assemble those into systems that can store information and perform calculations. Which is not unlike what a lot of organic systems do already, nature is still more awesome at chemistry than any human scientist!

I just have a love and personal keen interest... If I was not the time poor, brain cell depleted mother of three children aged 6 and 5[x2] ...I would LOVE to study Anthropology or Behavioural Science.
