i don't have a hc card but yes to medicare. i have to admit ive only done limited research into ivf, but i was under the impression you needed to have the money up front to go ahead with it, like $10,000. and we just would never have that.

i suppose i don't want to think too much about it until i have to

i will say, it is very nice to have others going through the same thing to talk to

Welcome back Rocky, it's nice to come on here and see what everyone else is going through and feeling 'normal' (dare i say it lol) for once. This whole TTC journey is really taxing. My SIL found out yesterday that DH isn't going away for mothers day (his birthday weekend) to visit his mum because that is during the week that he has to be around me (that's how DH explained it to his mum haha) and she hit the roof, told me that i'm selfish and that i'm taking him away from his family :s I pointed out the conflicting dates to him and told him i'd start the clomid a month later so he could still go away and he was the one who told me that we're starting in may because it's what we BOTH want. But, she didn't listen. Stupid people!

Over the past 2 years, i swear i have had every single female of child bearing age either fall pregnant or have a baby, Not over dramatising either! This year so far i've had about 9 friends have babies!

I've been feeling really emotional the last 2 weeks, i don't know whether it's the lead up to finally starting clomid or if it's something else, but DH has been in trouble a bit. whoops! I've been waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to sleep too. Anyone else felt like that?

You made need a HCC, I don't know your anual income, but could you apply to centrelink for one? You have to earn under a certain amount per year to get it, but my sister had one and she was earning a fair bit.

When we saw the private specialist it was roughly 3 grand for ''start up'' costs, which then turned out at like 5 grand per try of IUI, and went up to 8-9 grand per try for IVF. It's incredible the cost hey!

    Hi ladies,

Hope you dint mind me joining ur thread I've been on clomid (serophene ) for 5 months we did 4 mnths of monitored cycles then in feb we did our first round of iui with clomid unfortunately I developed a cyst so my AF didn't show up so I'm impatiently waiting it's return so we can move on to next cycle
DH and I have 2 kids who are 9 and 10 and have been trying for baby number 3 for almost 7 years DH had a vasectomy after DD was born but I really wanted another baby so we went and had 2 full stim rounds of IVF the a FET with no luck hubby then had a vas reversal oct 2010 which was successful so have been ttc naturally since then our plan is to have my tubes checked and if they get the all clear I will do another 2 rounds of iui with clomid then back to ivf if need be.

I find the only side effect I get is bloating I don't think it makes me moody but DH may disagree lol it also seems to decrease my sex drive to the point where I'm not interested which is not the best when ttc

Hi munchkin2, welcome to our thread

Sorry to hear your TTC journey has been so long, i have a 5 1/2 yr old DD and DH and i have been TTC our first together for 3 years, We started the journey seeing a specialist almost 2 years ago but were only getting private referals, but we didn't like the private specialists so had to convince a GP to give us the referal to the public FS. Finally succeeded last year just after we got married, and have been seeing him now for 6 months.

    Hi c2p80,

It's a horrible journey this infertility

Public FS I didn't know there was such a thing where abouts are you located? I know the new fertility center that's has just opened up in springwood is a low cost center and we will be going there if needed but would be interested in a public FS

hmmm, i haven't had a hcc since i was 17! i would assume im not eligible anymore because of my income, not that its alot!! i think if the time comes, ill look into it then, its something good to think about.

i certainly haven't heard about a public fs either. where would one find out more? im in a country area, so maybe none near me...

    and welcome munchkin2

Hi c2p08, Omg, I can't believe his SIL said that to you, how rude!! I know what I'd be wanting to say back!! ANd you were even really nice & explained it all to her.

I think its really nice that he wants to stay so 'timing' is right. Surely they should all understand that! Don't let them get you down, I think its sweet he's putting whats important to him first, which is you! They just sound jealous!

Yeah, I;ve been feeling really emotional too & don't understand it. I think for me, it just feels like its never going to happen for us & I'm scared thinking, what if it doesn't work, then what? I don't want to do other options like IVF, way too expensive. Especially when we'll need the money for staying off work & buying baby stuff!!

Does anyone know how much clomid costs?? The doctor has given me the script but I haven't had it filled yet. I was just wondering this the other day & I had no idea.

    Welcome Munchkin2!!

    Hi ladies,

Rocky if I remember correctly it cost me about $34 but I get 4 months out of I packet so works out nice and cheap but it will depend on what dose and number of day ur FS has u on. I'm on 25 mg days 3-7 so I cut my 50mg pill in half hence getting the 4 months out of 2 month supply
