That when your waters break it just keeps coming until the baby is born lol! I couldn't believe how much fluid I was losing for 30 hours of labour :-)

That you should go out NOW and do heaps of fun, stress free things with friends/hubby/solo because it's just not going to happen for a while. A long while.

Just that what ever they expect parenting to be, it'll be completely different than that!

Babies love chubby mummy bellies. They're like the world's best beanbags. You can almost hear them sigh in relief as they snuggle into your squishy belly.

Take a few months off to just be happy emotionally. Eat well, but if you want a burger, do it. Relax and be happy. Spend your day strolling with the pram, not frantically trying to jog off 10 kilos in a day. Sprawl on the couch in your jammies in a mink blanket and watch trashy shows as you eat ice cream with one hand and feed with the other.

Having a baby is such a blessing. Enjoy it, because they're newborns for only a few fleeting weeks, and before you know it, they're teenagers.
I think this is so true! Its take 9ish months to put the weight on, take 9 months to take it off! Wish I knew this before I had my son.

That not all babies sleep in a lovely routine 4 hourly cycle.
Enjoy cuddles and snuggles as they are only tiny for 5 milliseconds!
If you are doing something that goes against your mummy instinct then don't persist because everyone tells you to.
Breastfeeding is hard work for a while but it's worth it all when it clicks into gear!!

To trust your own instincts more and what may have worked for one parent and their child may not work for you.
