Default standard time for c sect in private hospital???

    hi

im sure this was asked b4, not sure if it was Q about public or private tho...but at what point did u get an elective c sect if u were private (private ob and private hospital)? this is my 2nd (first was emergency c section i guess u call it that..lack of progress etc after induction). my understanding was it used to be 38-39wks..now its more like 39wks but seems heaps of ppl i know get thiers still between 38-39wks??? i asked ob to book it in this week hoping it would between 38+4 and 39wks and he said we'll book it next week. but could be as late at 39+4 wks....as i was in pain from really sore hips at theb time & i was bit cheesed off (i mean why pay $$$$ for private if u cant get what u want hey) but feel ok now as pain has subsided (for the time being) and im in a better mood ..but just curious as to what the norm is? TBH i have a niggling feeling my ob thinks i could / should do a vbac ..maybe im paranoid maybe its my own paranoia seeing as physically there is nothing wrong with me (besides being way heavier and unfitter than my normal level a few yaers ago) ???....and i tossed this up for a while and thought about it a lot but decided to go for an elective for various reasons (mainly being there is no way i would ever do another induction) i mean im not completely opposed to a v birth if it happened spontaneously but once i'd made up my mind i just wanted a date and was surprised that potentially it could left so late, especially in private!!!

Mine does them at 39 weeks on the day if possible. Apparently there is a much better chance of their lungs being properly developed at 39 weeks than 38.

I was booked in for my c sect date at my first obst appointment at 10 weeks. Freaked me out a bit as I didn't want to jinx my pregnancy! It's nice to know a date so far in advance, though.

    All the best!

Private, 37+6 coming up on 2 May. He said the sooner the better :-)

First was 26+2 under GA so at high risk of rupture.

Mine is 38+3. We were given this date or 39+3 as my ob only does them on Wednesdays. Im measuring ahead and trust my ob that it's okay to do it at this time
