Smile Very unsettled 4 months old baby

    hi all,
Ds is about 22.5 weeks old and has been very unsettled lately during the day. We were doing the eat, play sleep routine and usually he is up for 1.5 to 2 hours, then he goes to sleep for 1 to 2 hours. Lately once he wakes from his day sleep or nap, he will not stop crying. He looks right awake. So I take him out from the cot. I have been rocking, singing , bathing him to settle him but nothing works. He just keeps crying. He is all right with his night sleep but he is driving me insane during then day now! Is this normal? Had this happened to anyone else?

Yeah, my 4m old DD has been doing this. Fortunately she usually can be distracted by a walk around or a toy. Hope you find some answers!

Are you breastfeeding? If you are I would just settle him with a feed. Babies' routines and habbits change as they grow, what works one day may not work the next.

Yup I am breastfeeding. I had tried giving him a feed to settle him but it will only worked for 20 mins.

Hi, my infant sleep doctor teaches "happy awake time" instead of feed, play, sleep. This is his handout:

My ds who will be 5 months next week was the same, the problem was that even though I thought she was sleeping for 1 hour she wasn't so she would end up screaming if I got her up for a play as she was overtired. I have to continue to resettle so that she learns to sleep longer she is better now but still has some days where she still screams (like today). Hopefully that helps, good luck
