Threads like this make me long for a day where money no longer exists and the barter system keeps everything in balance.

I think most Western countries have declining population growth. I did an essay on Japan last study period and they are going to have huge problems to do with an aging population in the future. Basically, the thinking is that increased education means slower or non existent population growth.

You are correct, the baby bonus was introduced as an incentive for parents to have more children to directly counter australias birth rate and aging population of 'baby boomers'
It was put in place as MANY australian are only having 1-2 children and choosing careers over parenthood.

China is facing more problems than one young person to two older people, it's actually one young person to four older people AND seeing so many girl fetuses are aborted China has more men than women, they also have Precious Snowflake or Little Emperor children - all huge social problems from their one child policy.

Nope don't support that at all you can't control people's reproductive rights. I've seen bad parents with 1 child, 5 and more. I've seen great parents with 1 child 5 and more. I think although there are issues with time and the amount of one on one you can give to heaps of kids, removing and controlling women's bodies just doesn't sit with me.

It's kind of sad that partnered SAHP's seem to be free of people's judgments even if they are receiving payments. I always see the irony here of some that are so judgmental, particularly of single parents getting payments, yet they receive payments themselves to support them being at home.

You either support supplements to stay at home or you don't. Relationship status means nothing. If you don't, stop taking the money

I agree. Can't support a system that punishes the child while the govt spends billions on defence costs and allows greed which has led to the virtual collapse of their banking system. Then there's the state of their education system from low funding, watching Waiting for Superman was an eye opener... but I digress lol

Yep give me Australia anyday, where the poor and disadvantaged are cared for.. but then I get called a socialist for expressing those views

    very much so!
my friend was saying that as an only child she has the 'right' to 2children, but shes too scared to even talk to a man (shes 30) and is 'running out of time'
so even though there access to facilities for 2 children, theres a generation of only children who are so socially inept that they have trouble with human romantic interaction.
and this leads to the issue of the population of rural area (which are generally lower educated and socioeconomic areas) making up a large percentage of the country.
(a bit like the movie idiocracy)
its something im fascinated with, and if i could get a grant id seriously consider writing my thesis on the topic (3years in country is a bit hard atm)
