Actually China has made massive improvements in their poverty situation. There are just a lot more of them, which tends to skew the perception.

Pregnancy brain.. Hehe maybe I should be sterilized!! :-p

With that being said though, the restriction of resources to said number of children.. What would be the consensus if the government turned around and said we are restricting funding to those with alcohol, drug, smoking and obesity related illness?

It's a choice.. If someone continues to smoke that's a choice isn't it? Why can one person chose to continue smoking and receive future medical funds in relation to this but a mother or future tax payer can't receive any entitlements if it is her 3rd, 4th ect as per other suggestions that entitlements be cut off after a certain number of kids.

I'm not saying I agree with cutting off medical entitlements, but I also don't believe that anyone should be exempt from help when they need.

If you cant afford to do it, but still do it anyway that's another issue. But I do not believe society should be able to pick and choose who is worthy or help and who isn't.

Actually China is facing serious issues concerning the one child policy as the population ages. One young person for every 2 old people.

I don't support a cap on the number of children people can have any more then I would support legislation saying where said children should or should not be born.

its a prepay vs post pay comparision.
a smoker etc will have paid taxes in thier life which contributes towards thier future health care.
supoorting children now is an investment in our future tax base
its the main reason behind the baby bonus and other welfare; we have an aging population and need fund to provide medicala/social support

I only said China because I saw a documentary on this problem in China recently at stupid o'clock AM on some Mickey mouse channel, SBS 2 or ABC24?
