Default Anyone been upgraded to first class?

Has anyone ever been upgraded to first class? Or business. Know anyone who has? It's our honeymoon to the USA In 2 weeks and my DF has sore back problems. Any tips on getting upgraded? I know its highly unlikely but no harm trying !

Yep several times. Handy when you know ppl high up (pardon the pun) my name is often on the upgrade list but depends who you get at the gate. Once I asked if my name was there she said yes then said the flight was full. Turns out it was NOT full she was just having a ***** of a day I guess. Upgraded the rest of the way after stop over.

    Good luck

I have, but it wasn't an international flight. It was a domestic flight from Perth to Bris though, so a fairly long one. When we were checking in, I asked the guy if I could have an aisle seat as I was newly pregnant and peeing a lot...I didn't want to have to crawl over someone to get to the loo every time. He said "Congratulations! I can do better than that!" and I got an aisle seat in first class DH was pretty stoked

We were upgraded Honolulu to LAX due to an enormous stuff up on their part.

First class is the only way to fly :cloudnine:

I usually only ask if I know my name is on the list. Start by asking if the flight is full. Then ask how you could upgrade as you dh has a sore back or whatever. Honesty is best policy (but that's just cause I can't lie lol) sometime you can pay a little to get an upgrade or use airmile points. Its not so common these days to get an upgrade without having someone who works for the airline requesting it prior iykwim?

You need someone high up, to get you on the list.
    Corporate can do it.

I used to upgrade people and now I get upgraded.

Call and ask for a supervisor, then tell them you would love to surprise your husband with an upgrade or even a bottle of champers..

Then you will get a DO ALL POSSIBLE in your booking!

Thanks Beryl very helpful. I'll ring Emirates tomorrow. Ive e-mailed our travel agent asking her to contact Emirates on our behalf and flag us. (although I'm sure she won't). And we"ll ask at the check in. Bit embaressing but if you don't ask you'll never know.
