We were having ant problems inside at one stage and it was actually because of our carpets. Littlies spilling things etc made the carpets smell nice to the ants and they would literally make themselves at home eating us and everything else in their path. We got our carpets cleaned thoroughly and it has nearly stopped all of them now. Just a thought for your place too.

If you use sticky tape to "trap" a couple of the ants, and send it to the Department of Agriculture & Food, they will identify the ants for you so you can use the appropriate ant killer.

There are actually heaps of different types of ants and you do need to know the one you've got otherwise you may just be wasting your money on ant killing products.

(oh, and the ag dept thing is free.)

Where do you buy orange powder? Is that what it's called?

Thanks for the replies everyone! There're several small nests in the garden and they live on trees too. I normally just pour boil water into a nest if I find one, but there's always another one.

Buy it from woolies etc i think. I havent had to buy it as of yet as mine have vacated for the time being but i will use it next time. It should be in the cleaning isle as its just a spray and wipe sort of thing i believe.
