Get a few prices. My parents have a 20 year old BMW and parts are very expensive! Even a basic service. People do seem to heard BMW and jack up the price. Hopefully his mate gives him a good deal.

It's only a panel so it doesn't matter so much that it's a Beamer.
hopefully his friends do it cheaply.

Do you have liability cover Under your home/contents insurance? Id ring your insurers & check if you can claim it you will be surprised!! I used to work in insurance claims & helped a friend out whose car was hit by a kid on a bike. The kids family were able to claim it under their home insurance (public liability). Ring them but read your policy document if they say you arent covered, its fairly unused so they may knock it back without checking properly if you are covered! Good luck

Good on you for waiting for him! Not many people would be so polite, especially with it being a Bmw !! Most of the time it's easier for everyone to just pay cash and not involve insurance on either side. But I agree, if it seems like his quote is a bit steep. Get another couple of quotes to make sure it's a good deal! Hope it's not too much

It's covered under his insurance, providing he has some.

I'd be getting him to put in a claim & pay the basic excess.

He may be claiming it too and getting the cash. Who knows.

Good on you for waiting, you did the right thing

I have a BMW and the things that cost more to repair are really parts etc so from what you have described, it shouldn't cost any more than if it was any other car iykwim. Hopefully he will get mates rates somewhere or other and the cost will not be too eyebrow raising.

for doing the right thing.....so many people wouldn't have.
