Default Apologising just to keep the peace (if you have done nothing wrong)

Who has done this? How long can you keep doing it until you say enough is enough? Eg say you have an argument with someone (a friend/partner etc) and they accuse you or something you didn't do/say. You tell them you don't know why they think that and that you haven't done/said anything bad but say sorry anyway cos you don't want to fight. Does this happen all the time or is once or twice enough. This seems to be happening with me lately and I am getting tired of it. I am going to do a poll...

I wouldn't apologise for something i didn't do. I would though say you feel sorry for the person feeling how they do

Yeah I did say that basically, I said "I really don't know what I have done wrong, but I am sorry if you are hurt"

yes i wrote a letter to my BIL's fiancee apologising that i had upset her, even though i didn't do anything wrong. i wish i hadn't because she wrote back an abusive letter and now i'm really mad at her and refuse to speak to her or BIL. i think it made the situation worse and i should have just let sleeping dogs lie. i shouldn't have given her an excuse to abuse me! stupid wench. hope your situation improves soon OP xx

I haven't apologised for something I didn't do because I feel like that is admitting guilt. I am the first to say sorry if I am wrong.

If you just ignore it and say sorry to make it go away I think it could get worse and worse.
