Default Strong taste of blood in mouth?

Hi, I have been experiencing a very strong taste of blood in my mouth for a few days.
Not metallic, but very strong blood (like when you bit your lip and it bleeds)

I have checked numerous times and there is no blood at all.

I have alway been anemic, I have been on Iron tablets and my iron has always been low still.

It gets worse around my period and the last period I ended up fainting, I went to a new dr and he prescribed me some new iron tablets and told me to take double the dose for the first 2 weeks then the normal dose.

He also said it it hadn't improved dramatically in a month he would send me up to the hospital for an evaluation for a hemoglobin transfusion.

Any way I have been feeling so much better, no fainting, and I don't have bruises on me, and my energy is through the roof. I haven't been like this for a long time..

Any way after my 2 weeks of the double dose I have been having the blood taste in my mouth... Do you think that could be a link between the two? Or does this sound like something else?

I'm booked in next week with him for a follow up blood test.
But I'm thinking of going in sooner as its getting to be quite annoying.

    Thanks in advance

A sign of celiac is constantly low iron. Once my hubby went off gluten his anemia vanished and he doesn't eat ANY animal protein. He takes a small dose of iron liquid supplement just in case to keep his stores up but has been told he doesn't need to.
