Default High blood pressure @ 10 weeks

    Hi all,
I went for a check up today and my blood pressure was at 156/100 so the Dr had put me on tablets. I feel like i need more information about this... Im feeling a little stressed and confused.
Does anyone know anything about this type of situation?
Is there such a thing as a midwife hotline that i can call and speak to someone about this?
    Thanks everyone

Personally I would call the doctors clinic and ask him to call you back and explain.

If you don't feel comfortable you can call any pharmacist.

Do you have a midwife yet? If yes call him/her and they will be able to help aswell.

Did you have high blood pressure before your pregnancy?

high blood pressure during pregnancy can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

Did you have to do a urine protein test too? What were the results of that if you had to do one.

Ask to go see him again for some more information.

I'd call the doctor back and ask further questions. Did you have high blood pressure before pregnancy? Were you stressed out about the appointment? I used to get high readings every time I went to an appointment at the hospital but it always went down after monitoring for half an hour or so. It was always fine at the GP. I was told I had 'white collar syndrome' cos I was terrified of hospitals. Maybe you could buy your own blood pressure kit to keep an eye on it? But definitely call the dr for more information.

No it wasn't high before, and i don't have a midwife yet. I think the Dr tried to explain but he is foreign so i had trouble understanding.

What did they put you on? I had high bp the whole way through, I have it anyway but it was exacerbated by pregnancy.. I think 10 weeks would be too early for PE

I'm the same. 22w tomorrow and been off work since 16w. What medications do you take? I'm on Aldomet, Nifedipine (Adalat) and Labetolol. Apparenty Nifedipine and Adalat are cat C drugs so I'm a little worried....
