*there is no original sin because the thought of a child going to hell is disgusting
    *Adam and Eve never existed
    *that animals have souls
    *God punished the Germans
*Hitler is in hell... But also he hopes noone has gone to hell
*that when god returns we are all going to return to our rotten corpses and walk the earth again :\

I think I left the debate more confused about Christianity!

I'm Christian, his responses were catholic. Some things he said aren't biblical. Coming from my point of view.

I need to rewatch - I was too busy chatting with DP through the show.

What did he say about the soul setting as apart from the animals, but all living things have souls, and we have voice boxes to communicate (proof of God) rather than 'grunt'.

..has the man ever heard a whale song!?
[not to mention all the other forms of communication out there]

Pity Dawkins was jet lagged and didn't talk about the postion and evolution of the Larynx in humans and other animals.

...like I said before, I wanted MORE from this 'debate'

Just curiously, when science vs religion debates start up on this forum, why is it always Christian vs athiest? There are other religions that go against the idea of big bang theory etc

The discussion regarding the body of Christ really confused me as well. I just couldn't understand the cardinal's response, he wasn't making sense (this might just be me after a long day though )

Also, what was with the random and inappropriate laughter from the audience (which appeared to be baffling Dawkins too).

Thank you! And sorry! I am always a bit unsure about which aspects of the bible differ in interpretation/ emphasis between Christian faiths (and thought the topics tonight were common across Christian faiths).

I would say because Christianity is dominant in Australia. It's taught in our schools, we swear on bibles, celebrate Easter and Christmas, our politicians stress their Christian faith. As an athiest it can be concerning that any religion has a voice in our politics or education but Christianity, at this point, is definitely the dominant one

Yes I found the laughter really patronising. What was it all about?

I think because Christianity is the largest religion in Aus... most Australians who are religious identify as being Christian, thus the hubbers debating are more likely to be Christian.

I can't believe he is supposed to be the head of the Catholic Church in Australia as he wasn't making sense about a lot of things!
