I know... it always ends up that way, not just on here, but the big major debates ...probably because Christianity is the most 'popular' modern religion.

and because Christianity is made up of 'theologies'
    'theos' - diety.

not all religions worship a diety...and most of them that did predate christianity and/or have merged into it.

I have no idea, it was really odd. Dawkins even questioned the host on their choice of audience following some of the laughter (I think he mentioned that they were a bit biased?). It was annoying.

The part about the body of Christ was pretty appalling! Dh and I were getting pretty mad at that!

When a person takes communion in church they eat a piece of bread and drink a bit of grape juice. It's to REPRESENT the body and the blood of Jesus. As a modern day Pentecostal, our lives aren't centered on the 'taking' of communion but the fact we need to lead a life of worship, glorifying God DAILY! I'm sorry but the definition of 'do good and you'll get to heaven' doesn't cut it, it simply does NOT say this in the bible! To get to heaven you need to LIVE according to his word DAILY, doing the things GOD sees fit NOT man!!!!

..I was a bit let down by tonight to be honest.
A lot of time wasted on the same old silly questions that have been answered long ago.

WTF - re Pell raving on about Neanderthals!

I wish it had gone for longer though
I agree. It was disappointing. The audience was off putting, the questions blah and the opportunity for true discussion thwarted by some bizarre tangents mainly by Pell.. Between the Neanderthals and the Nazis it was disjointed to say the least.

I had to giggle at his faux pas regarding little boys
I didn't watch it, is there a link anywhere to watch online?

I've seen the myth of Hitler being an example of atheism as well and it's uneducated. Hilter identified as christian, roman catholic from memory, and in a few of his speeches he talks about Judaism being a threat to christianity. Whether he was truly religious and was just using it as an excuse remins to be seen. But he def didn't identify as atheist lol. In fact the holocaust can be seen as a modern religious hate crime under the guise of christianity

I find it's a common thing for religious people to go off on tangents and not really answer the question, much like pollies do. I'm not sure if it's bc they don't really know the answer, or if it's that they deliberately talk in circles to throw people.

    *jealous*

Would love to hear an update (wouldn't mind an autograph if you get close enough! )

Would have loved to have been there (would have been a perfect opportunity for a BH meet too!) --- was waiting for the David Attenborough tickets to go on sale and missed getting one!!

Is that for the 'something from nothing' talk?

You do know Hitler commited crimes against Christians as well yeah? Using Hitlers crimes against Christians is pretty rancid imo. Take your own advice and don't try and throw people off with misinformation about the most hated man in history to get your own agenda across.
