Default Pre pregnancy vitamin.. Multi or individual vitamins.

I am currently takin Swisse pregnancy ultivate but have read that some people just take a few different vitamins to supplement diet.

My question is what are you taking/ did you take while TTC?
What side effects are you experiencing?
& is your partner also taking vitamins, if so which ones?

Thanks for your info, interested to hear everyones vitamin preferences

I used Blackmores Conceive Well Gold. DP didn't use anything. Looked at Elevit but because I used the Blackmores Pregnancy ones I stayed with those.

Blackmores I-folic, it has iodine and folic acid. If you have a healthy balanced diet you should be getting all the necessary levels of vits and minerals except for these two as the amount you need preconception and during pregnancy is almost impossible to eat. I haven't experienced any side effects yet, I've been taking it for a month.

If you don't have a balanced healthy diet than any pregnancy multi-v should be fine. If I do get pregnant and have issues with ms then I'll swap to a multi-v as then I prob won't be getting a balanced diet.

Oh just wanted to add that they made me feel quite queasy if I had them on an empty stomach. Had to take them after breakfast.

Thanks for your responses. My diet is fairly healthy.. But has its moments!! So I don't think a multi will so any harm..my main concern is the iron in them. I already have issues with high iron.. But so far don't feel like it's doing any harm.. Might have to head to the doctor & ask their opinion.

If you you've already been taking a multi-v maybe get a blood test to see what it's doing to your iron levels. I've heard of people taking I-folic (which is about the size of a contraceptive pill) and one or two specific vitamins they're deficient in to tailor their intake.

My doctor put me on the Swisse Pregnancy multivitamins, vitamin D and extra Folic Acid vitamins so I'm like a walking pharmacy.

I take cenovis preg & breast feeding - I'm not able to take elevit or blackmores as they give me vertigo & according to my OB it's from a herb used in them that some ppl are allergic to 😄
