Would a career in the disability field sound good? I was in the field for 14 years now I'm a stay at home mum, it's a flexible field with different combinations of shift work and day work and very rewarding

Sorry to high jack the thread a little but I was wondering what you have to do in order to get in to that field. I would love to but thought that I would have to do some qualification but was not sure what exactly. Any information that you could provide I would love. Thanks.

    Hi Jazz,
You can do a cert 4 in disabilities at Tate or your local community centre might offer it, MRN (mental retardation nurse) (oh god how I don't like that name but anyway) at uni or some places will do traineeships. I know the traineeships happen in Vic, not too sure what state your in and if it might be different.

If you have the time most places love having volunteers, I can help you search if you need a hand just pm me

I am in NSW (rural area, just moved back here). I am not working at the moment so volunteering would be good. Even if I do get some work it will only be part time so I could still do some volunteering. I will have to see if I can find some where here to do that. Thanks for the information.
