It's a tricky question, alot of things have me scratch my head, I don't understand why some people choose not to vax, I don't understand why some women bottle feed if they are capable of breastfeeding, I don't understand why a pregnant women will light up a cigarette knowing it could be harming her unborn. I don't get why alot of parents do alot of the things they do, but I do try to keep an open mind and understand that everyone's circumstances are different, sometimes I can respect the reasons behind it, other times I can not, but with out knowing a full story, I do tend to have a more neative reaction, it's not something I really act on though, I tend to keep my opinions to myself.

I don't care too much about the choices people make because it's not my concern.
When people make stupid choices that endanger their lives or other peoples lives, then that's a different story.
People do things for different reasons. What I see as right, somebody might see as wrong.
People get way too involved in other peoples decisions and why they're wrong. It's easier to agree to disagree. The world would be a simple place if people got on with *their* lives and *their* decisions.

An opinion is defined as a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

When you say 'respect' do you mean 'value' or 'tolerate'.

..because there are opinions out there that aren't of my own train of thought but I can see value in them and respect that.
    - but there are 'opinions' out there that I can't accept and won't tolerate...and I don't have to.

(and I can honestly say I am the same IRL as I am on BH)

It depends what you are talking about

I am not going to respect an opinion that is based upon untruth. Nope, can't do it.

What makes something an untruth? When there is a difference between a government and a university in relation to, for example, autism, preservatives, home schooling what makes one right over the other? If you agree with the university are you wrong? If you question the government are you wrong?

Err I have no idea what this is in relation to but I'd never support someone's choice to be involved in a neo nazi group, someone's choice to go on a murderous rampage or vote for One Nation!

And yes, of course some things are just flat out wrong! Like people who do not like chocolate!

I don't respect opinions and choices which go against human rights. I don't care if it doesn't affect me personally. It affects *someone* and if everyone turns a blind eye, then we will never see change.

I think (hope) I respect other people's choices, even if it's not a choice I'd make. When someone tries to push me into making the same choices or think a certain way, I will be firm in letting them know that I expect the same respect back. I tend to lose respect for them if they keep pushing but can't logically back it up, as I think they just want someone else doing the same thing to make themselves feel better.

It really depends what the topic is.

The biggest things I have learnt at uni are critical thinking and backing up your opinion with peer reviewed, up to date data. These should be applied to all our opinions, no matter what they are.
